A.C.M.U. Works Do. Dec 2009.

Went to the Works Do.
Crazy mob I work with. We had a Bare-foot Bowling, BBQ & bBeverages night. Lots of fun.

I have never lawn bowled before. And managed to get Two bee stings on the same foot within a half inch of each other.

Most of us needed some instruction.

Some more than others

But we all has sooooo much fun, time really got away on us..
It was really dark by the time 'some' of us decided to call it a day!

That's Mick 'lighting the way' for his team.
This is the team I was in.

Lance & Graham
Sherelle & Del.
Love the rose shirt Lance. Me and Hilly won. Which was a big surprise to us as most of my bowls ended up in the ditch.

Back row: Coralie, Peter,
Front: Fiona, Geoff, Narelle.

Gary, Kent, Rod, Mick.
The Intrepid Night Time Bowlers.

And the others that came too.

Troy's GF, Troy, Noel & Trev.

A couple of others turned up later or avoided getting in photos.
Alison & Helen.

I love the people I work with. They are an amazing bunch.

'Entre The Giant' has joined our family.

I got a little dog!

'Entre The Giant' has joined our family.

So far he and Jawj are getting along fine. He has made friends with everyone and has already got a pat of Rod. I have him here at home on 'aproval' for the weekend but I think he is going to stay. I've fallen in love with him. He is a pomeranian/maltese x and about 5-6 years old.

Why is he called Entre, I here you ask?

Because he's about a mouthful!

Nathan has turned the corner

Remember about 6 months ago I told you our #2 son, Nathan was very ill with a
blood clot on the lung. We came sooo close to loosing him. (I still shudder at
the thought of what might have happened if he hadn't have listened to me/mum and
got off to the doc when he did.)
Well, after a few set-backs along the way he's turned a corner today, finally, a
really big one.
Big Whew! around here this morning.
He went to his first fitness training session this morning.
Not being allowed to do any above very mild exercise for so long has meant that
he has lost all the fitness he did have and he was very fit as he was training 4
times a week and fighting most weekends when the 'sports related injury'
occured. In all that time off he only gained 6 kg so I think he did really well.
I lined up one of the guys I work with, who does fitness training on the side,
and Nathan went off for the first session this morning. He is surprised at just
how much fitness he has lost. But my mate Beau knows what he is doing and will
lead him along correctly. Now maybe Nathan can start getting his life back on
track again. Poor bugga! He never seems to get a break, always has to work
really hard for anything he gets in life.

Oh, and he's still single and can cook.

Poor old Wunda is gone.

Our dog Wunda passed away this evening (Wednesday 11/11/09) about 9:25pm. She was 15-16 years old and has been a wonderful pal to us all for the last 13 years..

The Graders Have Arrived

These photos taken yesterday morning.

Rod and Jawj going for walkies in the cow paddock over our back fence (about a week ago) It's worth clicking on these photos to see what a view we have had for the past 5 years. The row of houses you can see across the photo have all been built in the past 12 months.

My very favourite dog picture

Got a new computer and when I swapped over I must have done something to my brain too 'cause it's taken me 3 days to figure out how to get back here. Couldn't remember any thing, user name??? password??? sign in email??? a total blank.
But I've finally done it!
BIG HINT: when you 'update/change account/password' write down all the account details properly and date it, then cross out the old info. (never get rid of the old info tho, . . that's how I managed to get back in here and my Google account).

Sewing room is a mess (from all the 'refit' of this computer which is faster than Betty Cuthbert (so that's it's name) so I don't know when I will get back to sewing. Meanwhile I will see what I can find in the Past Glories( now called "Glorias Depast")

No Flaunt this week either.

I have been spending far too much time on Yoville.
Can't help it. It's fun.
About the only fun you can have after midnight.
I do go in as Dee but I have much more fun going in as Jawj Blueheeler, (the
dog) Most people are a bit worried when I tell them I am really a dog but they
soon join in. They all get a laugh when they see Jawj's pad. (he collects wind
up penguins) Just don't go near the tree in his living room, it gets a bit damp
under there.
So if you are a Face Book-er of a Yoville-er, please sign up Jawj. He's a cute
little dude.

I've been working a shift that finishes at 10pm.
Next week I'm working 10pm to 6 am.
Maybe I will get some sewing done then.

Modelling retreat clothing.

My quilty mate Christine and I got to model the garments for sale for the SCQuilters 2010 Retreat which is going to be held here in Bathurst.

I think we both look pretty good.

Of course Jawj had to get in on the act too.

Funny Animals

Here's something to make you chuckle

Sorry about the quality of the photo in my last entry. (I did say it was a bad photo.) As soon as I find the photo I will scan it again and replace that one. Meantime, . . . don't bother clicking on the photo to get a better look,  . . . . it only gets worse.

No FF so a Saturday PAST GLORIES instead

Once again I haven't been anywhere near the sewing machine during the past week and since I have been doing early starts too I haven't got any hand sewing done either.
So I am sharing another PAST GLORY with you all.
This really bad photo is of a series of quilts I called LAPTOP GARDENS (1, 2, & 3)
I made them for my sisters-in-law, way back in the beginning. 1994 or 1995.
The the pink border one on the left was the first one I made from an English (I think) needlecraft magazine. I think it was called 'Garden Path' or something along those lines. The 'center' path is plain beige fabric. It was made for Judith. The middle one is my own adaption of the technique (bargello) and goes from dark blue in one corner to pale blue in the other. (colourwash bargello, but I didn't know this then) It is Dawn's. The yellow border one is another variation I came up with, still without knowing what technique I was using or what it was called. This one was for Maureen.
I delivered them all personally and warned them that I would want them back in a few months as I had been persuaded to enter them in the crafts section of the Royal Bathurst Agricultural Show. When I did get them back, Judith had washed (& ironed???!!!) hers, but the others were like brand new. The blue one, Dawn's got First, the yellow got Second and the judge told me later that the pink one was not judged because it had been washed otherwise I would have taken out 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. I was chuffed. I really didn't expect to get any placing as these were some of my very first efforts at any type of quilting. I had just happened upon something that looked very complicated, that caught everyone's eye.
Sorry the photo isn't so good. I intend to assemble them all again and get a better snap one day.

Retreat Printing - Friday Flaunt

I haven't got a sewing project to show today for Friday Flaunt, but I can show you photos of what I was doing today.

It is quilting related.

You see, I'm on a committee that is organising the 2010 Southern Cross Quilters Retreat, to be held here in Bathurst NSW in May next year.

Today was the day we printed up all the info and forms for the registration packs. I went around to Christines place where she had two printers and computers set up.

We also had a Christine's four legged Quilt Police as 'supervisors', Macy (black) and Murphy (white).

Jawj saves us from the storm

Earlier on in the month, a couple of storms passed thru Bathurst.

Lots of rain, hail, thunder and lightning.
Both of us being storm-watchers from way back, HWS & I sat on the back veranda thru the whole tempest.

Jawj is our 3 year old Blue Healer.
We got him from the pound after he had been run over outside the gaol.

He spends a lot of time on the back veranda too. As you can see, he has claimed a chair for his own use.

He thinks he's tough and often saves us from deadly flocks of starlings, flesh eating cows over the fence, and killer kids riding bikes on the vacant land behind us.

Well, he took on the storm.

Growled and barked and told it off.

Then when it didn't pay any attention to him, he hid under the table.

3rd BBF photos - can't add text

I'm having trouble adding text in amongst all the photos of the 3rd Bathurst Bun Fight.
Does anyone else have this problem???
The only way around it that I can think of is to load them one at a time and write the text.
